Yorkshire Terrier

doggy day care ChelseaYorkshire Terrier is a small dog breed, was developed in Yorkshire, England in the 19th century. They were bred to be ratters. Yorkies are tiny little dogs but they have big personality. They are extremely intelligent, eager to please and quick thinkers so very easy to train. They are always alert, so make great watchdogs, but tend to bark a lot. They think they are big dogs in a tiny dog’s body.

Yorkies are always happy, curious little dogs and like to be busy. Yorkies are very loyal to their owners and very affectionate. They form very strong bond with their owners. If they are well socialised they make good family pets and good around other dogs. They don’t like to be left alone, love their owners more than anything and want to spend as much time as they can with them. They are very calm and patient, can lie for hours next to their owners or on their owner’s lap without moving just to be with them. They are so adaptable and make wonderful companions but if they are not well socialised or trained well, they tend to be very protective of their owners. It doesn’t matter if you live in a small apartment or in a huge house with garden, due to their size and very adaptable personality they fit into anyone’s life. They are playful and happy when they can learn something so mental stimulation is important for them.

walking with YorkiesYorkshire Terrier is a single coated breed which means they don’t have an undercoat that protects them from the cold weather, so they need to wear a jumper or a coat when they go out and it’s cold outside.
